Robert Mugonza Malcolm

Lecturer

Personal Statement Robert is a Lecturer in Systems Design and Development, Human Computer Interaction, and data science and coordinates the postgraduate programmes at ICS. He has worked as a Quality Assurance officer with the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) in monitoring and evaluation of faculty and student academic research affairs. Also, coordinated the Girls-in-STEM project, where created structures and avenues for inspiring girls take up STEM-related careers and courses at high Learning centres. Research and innovative-wise, Robert, has contributed to a number of Medical health [mHealth] systems development including; a mobile phone-based PHR system that enables patients to provide timely access to their personal health information; an Electronic Medical and Billing System that is accessible on a basic mobile phone for the Mbarara Referral Hospital, 2011; implemented AgroTrader, a tool for connecting farmers to consumers, limiting middlemanship in the long run, and many more other projects in the past time. He has presented critical interest in how cloud computing can influence service delivery. At MUST, Robert is currently pursuing PhD studies in Computer Science with emphasis on Cloud Computing application in service provision. His final year graduate research: Analysis of Server and resource consumption of the Google cloud (Data Center) at the University of Leeds, a cloud computing application, was interested in understanding the behavior of users of the Google cloud. I was able to characterize the behaviour of these users and developed an automated tool for analyzing this type of data.
