Personal Statement Growing up in the 1990’s at Kilembe mines camp, Computers and ICT remained something I watched in Science Fiction movies as the magic behind Robots at neighborhoods after escaping from home. The continued movies’ exposure left me with the desire to use Robots to accomplish tasks. This is what shaped my choice of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at Uganda Christian University, Mukono. While there, reality of ICTs became clearer and I could then understand the various options of carrier paths in the computer world. I got an opportunity to work on the User support team while studying; this further exposed me in the IT field. I grew to appreciate the dynamic nature of ICTs and developed a passion to keep up with the trends. In the process, I developed love for ICT related debates and discussions thus shaping my interest in teaching IT. Fortunately, Mbarara University of Science and Technology opened her gates for me in August 2010. I have since been able to learn, share, teach, discuss and debate lots of IT related issues. I also engage in free-lance ICT service and equipment provision. I enjoy engagement with young people beyond ICT, to include; social, economic, political and inspirational issues with an aim of helping them and I understand the world better. These engagements give me satisfaction in life. I have growing interest in Information systems, thus pursued an MSc. Information systems at Uganda Martyrs University and now enrolled on a PhD. Information Systems at Makerere University. My aspiration is to grow into an information Systems professor with great impact and influence academically, socially and economically.
